| Stephen Canzoneri, President of the Nassau County Young Republicans, today offered congratulations to fellow Nassau County resident Dean Skelos on his election to Majority Leader of the New York State Senate. "I have known Senator Skelos for a number of years," Canzoneri said. "He is a role model to all YRs and is a distinguished state senator. I know that he will work very hard standing up for the people of the Empire state." Skelos, of Rockville Centre, was elected Tuesday night as the leader of the State Senate following the retirement of Joseph Bruno. Skelos had previously served as the Deputy Majority Leader. Canzoneri continued, "As a constituent of Senator Skelos’, I have seen first hand what an outstanding official he has been. He was the author of New York’s Meghan’s Law, eliminated the commuter tax, and has delivered record state aid to his district. We are very lucky to have him." The Young Republicans is a social organization open to all Republicans ages 14 to 40. If you are over the age of 18, you must be enrolled as a Republican. Meetings are generally held on the fourth Thursday of each month. Membership dues are $5 a year for high school students, $10 for regular membership, and $15 for families.
