On May 29, 2008, YR President Andrew Stream announced his resignation to the membership at the general meeting to be effective immediately. Stream recently accepted a position with an internet advertising company in Manhattan and will be moving in a few days to be closer to his job.
Stream stated that Stephen Canzoneri as Executive Vice President would take over the presidency. Canzoneri, 27, has served in various offices including second vice president, communications director, and special advisor to two presidents. In addition, he is a Republican committeeman representing Malverne and chief of staff to North Hempstead Councilman Angelo P. Ferrara. Canzoneri was sworn in by NYSYR Vice Chair Lynn Krogh.
After his remarks, Canzoneri nominated Kathleen Hunker to succeed him as Executive Vice President. She was unanimously elected by both the Executive Board and the membership. Hunker, 23, has served as 2nd VP for nearly three years and was previously a member of the Board of Directors as well as a past president of the Hofstra College Republicans.
To fill Hunker's 2nd VP spot, Canzoneri nominated Chris "Captain" Mayo, 23. Mayo for the past year had been the director of internships and has long been involved in the Hofstra CRs in addition to the Floral Park/Bellerose Republican Club.
Canzoneri also made some other key appointments: Alexandra Wertis as Communications Director, Chris Bastardi as Special Advisor to the President, Lisa Giunta as Parliamentarian, Rebekah Perillo as a Trustee of the Board of Directors, Shoshanna Weissman as Youth Committee Chair, Bryan Barnes as By-laws Committee Chair, Mike Cucinotta as Finance Commitee Chair, and Josh Lewis & Alex Vassallo as Finance Committee Co-Vice Chairs. |
